Crosscut Studio

Digital learning that places humans at the center of the experience.

Crosscut Studio collaborates with clients to make online courses and trainings that place the human, not the screen, at the center of the learning design. Their clients include Julliard, NYU, The International Justice Mission and Audible, amongst others.

As Crosscut continued to scale, they needed a brand identity, visual system and website that encapsulated the breadth and depth of their offerings. We created a new brand identity and design system that included a new website, social logos, templates for proposals and other client facing material.

The Challenge

We wanted to build a brand that was intentional, joyful, powerful and human-centered. The founder of Crosscut had a background in dance and we incorporated principles of movement and flexibility into the mark as the underlying philosophies that informed the studio’s work. We used a diagonal line as the foundational element for the design language and used it as a layering and intersectional device with other geometric shapes that were inspired by the idea of building blocks. We wanted the design language to be able to flex between playful and serious depending on the project being worked on and so we created transparencies, crops and overlays on top of design and photography that allowed for this flexibility.

The Solution

Crosscut Studio’s brand relaunch solidified their offerings, created a new visual way for them to interact with their existing clients and a expanded platform for outreach to new clients. The work injected new life into their core offerings and changed the kinds of projects their new business pipeline generated.
